Krabli can burn subtitles into video posts before you publish them. When a source channel publishes a video in a foreign language — or a video where the speech isn't readable at a glance — you can request transcription and get back a version with subtitles embedded directly in the video.
What Transcribe does
- Krabli extracts the audio from the video.
- AI recognizes the speech (using Whisper speech-to-text).
- The recognized text is translated into your workspace language (using a translation model).
- The subtitles are burned into the video — permanently embedded as part of the image, so they're visible on any device without any subtitle support.
- The subtitled video is returned to Backstage as an updated proposal, ready to publish.
Transcription costs are billed to your OpenRouter account (you need an AI key for this feature).
When to use it
- You want to share a video from an English or Hebrew source with your Russian-speaking audience
- A video has important spoken content that your audience might miss without subtitles
- You want to verify the content of a video before publishing
Transcription is optional for every video proposal. You trigger it manually — Krabli doesn't transcribe videos automatically.
How to trigger transcription
When a Backstage proposal contains a video, a 📝 Transcribe button appears above the main three buttons.
- Tap 📝 Transcribe.
- Krabli starts processing the video. You'll see a status update in the message.
- When it's done, the message updates with the subtitled video.
- Tap Publish to send the subtitled version to your Main channel.
Publishing while transcription is running
You can tap Publish while transcription is still in progress — Krabli will wait for the subtitles to be ready and then publish the subtitled version automatically. You don't need to watch and wait.
What happens if there's no speech
If the video has no spoken audio (music only, ambient sound, silence), the transcription will return an empty or near-empty result. Krabli handles this gracefully — you'll see a note that no speech was detected, and you can publish the original video without subtitles.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum video length | 10 minutes |
| Maximum file size | 200 MB |
Videos longer or larger than these limits cannot be transcribed. The Transcribe button will not appear for them, and Krabli will note the reason in the proposal message.
Languages
Krabli recognizes speech in any language that Whisper supports and produces subtitles in your workspace language — the same language your agents write posts in, set on the Agents page.
